Insect swarms of Biblical proportions recently swept the God-fearing communities that populate the Sierra Mountains of California. Small winged insects were everywhere, piled inches deep on everything for miles on end. Driving became a life-threatening risk, as the hellish bugs covered windshields, blotting out sight and light. Pedestrians were bedeviled by the mysterious creatures, which attacked every part of the body, making life a living hell.
The short-lived vermin left behind enormous piles of carcasses, ankle deep, yet they couldn’t die fast enough for the residents of Lone Pine, a small town which was particularly hard hit. One resident estimated that she had accidentally eaten “at least two dozen” of the pests, just from having them fly into her mouth or get into her food.
Scientists are blaming the invasion of these nutrient-sucking critters on the weather, but anyone familiar with the Bible understood immediately that such phenomena are foretold in prophecy. In fact, the scriptural evidence is overwhelming, as the following passages from the King James Version of the Judeo-Christian holy book amply demonstrate.
“That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.”
“And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:”
“And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.”
“Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.”
“I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.”
“Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.”
2 Chronicles 7:13
“If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;”
“He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,”
“And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.”
